The immensity of the Nature : the Perito Moreno

Ciao carissimi amici, posso finalmente raccontarvi con calma e soprattutto con una connessione decente il mio viaggio in Argentina. Sono tornata con la mente piena di emozioni, paesaggi meravigliosi, gente calda e ospitale, atmosfere introvabili altrove.

 Questo viaggio lo sognavo da una vita e finalmente l'ho potuto concretizzare. L'unico rimpianto : non aver potuto visitare, come avevo pianificato, il Parco cileno Torres del Paine che purtroppo é stato chiuso per un incendio.

Tornando ai posti che ho visitato, un luogo che mi ha colpito per la sua maestosità e possenza é stato il ghiacciaio Perito Moreno. Dichiarato Patrimonio dell'Umanità dall'Unesco, é un ghiacciaio unico nel suo genere. E' situato nel settore meridionale del Parque Nacional Los Glaciares, nella Patagonia Argentina, a 85 km dalla città di El Calafate. Le sue dimensioni sono impressionanti : 30 km di lunghezza, 5 km di larghezza e 60 m. di altezza. Ma il dato che lo rende più singolare rispetto agli altri ghiacciai è la sua costante avanzata, circa 2 m. al giorno. Un'avanzata che causa distacchi dal suo fronte di enormi iceberg di dimensioni notevoli (a volte, grossi come palazzi) che crollano con grande fragore, causando spruzzi spettacolari. E' fantastico stare appoggiati ai terrazzamenti di fronte al ghiacciaio e osservare questo show della Natura. 

Ho visitato questo straordinario ghiacciaio da diverse prospettive. Prima di tutto da quella più classica : i terrazzamenti che permettono una contemplazione ravvicinata ma in tutta sicurezza. Poi l'ho ammirato dalla barca e infine, armata di ramponi, ho fatto un trekking con delle guide specializzate che mi hanno fatto conoscere i paesaggi quasi irreali di questo luogo. Alla fine del trekking ci é stato offerto un bicchiere di wiskey con ghiaccio del Perito Moreno. Non vi dico come sono tornata...( sono quasi astemia!)

Ho fatto anche una crociera giornaliera tra gli altri ghiacciai, interessante e spettacolare. Mi é piaciuto molto  il ghiacciaio Spegazzini, di grande suggestione. 

Durante i tre giorni di visite ho soggiornato all'hotel La Cantera a El Calafate che consiglio perché dotato di camere confortevoli e con una vista magnifica sul lago Argentino. Ho mangiato veramente bene al ristorante El Cucharon e gustato gelati fantastici (sì, in Argentina sono buonissimi i gelati!) a La Oveja sul viale principale, sempre a El Calafate.

Ciao my dear friends, I can tell you at last calmly and most of all, with a decent connection about my trip to Argentina. I came back with the mind full of emotions, marvellous landscapes, people warm and hospitable, atmospheres impossible to find somewhere else.

I dreamt this trip for a long time and it was possible at last! The only regret : I couldn't visit the Torres del Paine park that unfortunately was closed for a forest fire.

Let's come back to my trip. One of the places that impressed me with its grandeur and majesty is the Glacier Perito Moreno. Declared a World Heritage site from Unesco, it is one of a kind.

It is situated in the southern sector of the Parque Nacional Los Glaciares, in the Argentinian Patagonia, 85 km from El Calafate city. Its sizes are impressive : 30 km in length, 5 km wide and 60 m. high. But the fact  more singular is that, compared to the other glaciers, Perito Moreno advances every day, more or less 2 m. per day.

An advance that causes detachments from its front of enormous icebergs ( sometimes, big like buildindgs ) that collapse with incredible crash, causing spectacular splashes. It's fantastic to rest on the balconies in front of the glacier and to observe this Nature's show. 

I visited this extraordinary glacier from different perspectives. 

First of all, from the more traditional : the balconies that allow a close contemplation in complete safety. Then I admired it from the boat and after, equipped with crampons, I had a trekking with specialized guides that showed me the quite irreal landscapes of this place. At the end of the trekking guides offered us a glass of wiskey with Perito Moreno ice. I wouldn't tell you the way I came back!( I'm quite abstainer!)

I had also a daily cruise among  the other glaciers, it was interesting and spectacular.

I liked a lot the Spegazzini glacier, that has a great charm. 

During the three days of visits I stayed in hotel La Cantera in El Calafate that I suggest you because it has comfortable rooms with a magnificent view on the Argentino lake. I ate very well at the restaurant El Cucharon and I tasted wonderful ice creams (yes, in Argentina ice creams are very good!) at La Oveja in main Avenida in El Calafate.
